its all a beautiful blur

{Saturday, December 30} Its not that Im busy, its that Im sad and lonely.
I was reading a certain cartoonist's LiveJournal and he posted this:
By the time I hit enter, Saddam Hussein will be dead. How come I'm way more sad about this than Chris Farley or Ronald Reagan?

Oh yeah, because no matter what anyone does, nobody has the right to take another person's life.
I thought I was weird for feeling like that. Say what you want about Saddam, but killing is killing is killing, and to celebrate it is kinda sick.

Who the hell is celebrating?

Seriously, I can understand carrying out one's solemn duty to the court. I can understand a supportive nod and words to the effect of "it had to be this way".

I can even understand a feeling of relief for those affected by the convicted's crimes.

But celebrating? What kind of monster would relish killing a man?

its sick to celebrate.

i have very mixed feelings on all of this. He was a dictator who murdered so many, so in my mind he deserves to die for his crimes. But i dont believe in celebrating it. But in a way i do. Its hard to explain, i cant really form the right words. People who have lost entire families because of saddam can now know that their families lives have been avenged and that they can now live a life without the fear of him. to me, that would be reason for celebration. But that footage almost seemed like a little too much celebration. I guess I would have to be there, living that, to understand it all.

Im a bit of an idealist in that I strongly believe that no human has the right to take the life of any other human, period. Killing a killer doesnt fix anything. It cannot right any wrongs, nor change, or even make up for what happened. The only thing it does is put blood on the hands of the righteous.

In the wake of Saddam's death we will not see anything change in Iraq, or the rest of the world.

I feel like I'm naked in front of the crowd
Cause these words are my diary screamin' out aloud
And I know that you'll use them however you want to.
