Gameplan, eh.
Good idea. I'm seriously trying not to think of the future at the min and live only in the here and now.
But you're Canadian, you're going to give up voluntarily living in one of the great social democracies of the world!
Seriously, how about the West Coast? I checked out Vancouver in June last year and really loved it.
But like I said I'm trying not to think about the future at the minute, although applying to do PhD stuff in British Columbia keeps sneaking into the foreground.
Sigh.

Once Stephen Harper and his Consertive cronies take power come Monday, we will not be living in one of the great democracies. We'll be living in the US, pretty much. I do not want to live in that type of Canada.
Honestly, I want to live overseas. The UK I think.

Ah, you mistake me, I never said great democracy!
By a social democracy, I mean clean streets, efficient services, generally pleasant manners, that sorta thing.
The UK is an extension of Bushco Inc, in any case! Canada has alot of catching up to do to surpass Britain's current lapdog status.
The UK has some nice parts but like much of Europe is poor value for your hard earned cash these days.
Plus evil weather unless you're in London.

But the Conservitive party in Canada will try and make Canada a lot less socalist. That is what I am afraid of.

Well.
Does Canada still have poverty? Check.
Does it actively support an international system that propagates massive underdevelopment in the so called Third World? Check.
It's not even passingly socialist, it's just a fluffier capitalist nation.
But this is off topic, the change of government can't be your main reason to emigrate surely?

It isnt the only reason, but it will give me a big push. I am NDP by nature, but I would rather live under a Liberal government than a Conservative one.
Another reason is simple: I want to simply experience living outside of this country. I have never lived anywhere but here, this house. I need to live before I can even think about settling down. And I am young, and single, with nobody dependant on me to keep me here. Even to live away for a year and then come home. I cannot see me living in any other province but Nova Scotia. I could see me moving to say, Halifax, but I cannot picture me out west. I am passionately patriotic, to not just my country, but my province (and of course, this island). That could just mean that I am young and naive.

Sounds like the time is ripe for change alright!
